Classes

Class Attire:  Light pink leotard, light pink tights, light pink ballet shoes

Class Description:  Beginning class for the youngest students at Fellom Ballet.  Fairy tales & other stories focus on the individual creativity of each child while forming concrete awareness of movement and discipline needed for a successful ballet experience.  Students are guided through developmental activities promoting coordination, strength, flexibility, body awareness in space, creativity, self discovery, confidence, positive self image, ballet vocabulary and movement, mental functioning, and social experience.

Ballet 1 (Kindergarten – 1st) (60 minute class once a week)

Class Attire:  Light blue leotard, light pink tights, light pink ballet shoes

Class Description: Transitional class for the young ballet student.  Barre, Centre, and Across the Floor activities are designed to help the student begin the discipline needed to study classical ballet.  The class outline focuses on simple ballet exercises at the barre, continuing with a more creative aspect of Centre Floor, followed by Across the Floor Locomotor movements.   Developmentally appropriate activities are planned with an emphasis on Ballet terminology and beginning Ballet Technique.

Ballet 2 (90-minute class once a week or twice a week)

Class Attire:   Black Leotard, light pink tights, light pink ballet shoes

10344866_699604476772584_957971404543231196_nClass Description:   First formal 90 minute class focusing on Classical Ballet Technique – A structured class involving developmentally appropriate Barre, Centre, and Across the Floor exercises.  Ballet body positions, terminology, musical terminology, theory of dance, creativity, positive self image, adagio and allegro movements & many other age appropriate activities are planned. Activities are planned which emphasize individual success.

Instructors: Holly Heil, Emily Randon, and Maggie Rownd

Ballet 3 (90-minutes twice a week)

Class Attire:  Black Leotard, light pink tights, light pink ballet shoes, pointe shoes*.

Class Description:  Formal 90 minute class focusing on Classical Ballet Technique – A structured class involving Barre, Centre, and Across the Floor exercises.  Ballet body positions, terminology, musical terminology, theory of dance, creativity, positive self image, adagio and allegro movements & many other age appropriate activities are planned.  Beginning development of a serious attitude for the discipline of ballet is also a focus.

*Eleven year old students are introduced to pointe shoes only if approved by teachers.

Ballet 4 (90-minutes twice a week)

Class Attire:  Black Leotard, light pink tights, light pink ballet shoes/pointe shoes.

Class Description:  Technique and Pointe. An extension and progression of the classical ballet technique promoted in the Ballet 3 class. Designed to be more stimulating and challenging to ensure technical and artistic development in an age appropriate environment.

Ballet 5 (By invitation only: 30-minutes twice a week; offered September – March)

Class Description:  Technique and Pointe.  Highest level of ballet training offered – An extension and progression of the classical ballet technique promoted in the Ballet 4 class. Designed to expand and refine the student’s movement vocabulary ensuring attentiveness to the classical ballet aesthetic in an age appropriate environment. Invitation only.

Ballet 3 and 4 Different Dance Class (60 minutes once a week; offered August – March)

Class Description:  Geared toward our dancers in Ballet 3 and 4, Different Dance gives students the opportunity to explore other dance forms including modern and jazz, as well as increase strength and flexibility through classes focused on leaps and turns.
